Primary Function of Organization Unit: North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is a dynamic community whose members are dedicated to preparing veterinarians and veterinarian scientists while advancing animal and human health from the cellular level through entire ecosystems. With the graduation of its first class in 1985, the CVM is one of the younger veterinary programs in the country. Despite its relative youth, the College has gained international recognition on the strength of its teaching, research, engagement, and patient care efforts and is ranked 3rd among the nation's 28 colleges of veterinary medicine in the current U.S. News & World Report survey. Located on 180 acres near downtown Raleigh, the College encompasses 20 buildings on the main Centennial Biomedical Campus. Instruction is in three departments;Clinical Sciences, Molecular Biomedical Sciences, and Population Health & Pathobiology. In addition to the four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, there are programs leading to master and doctoral degrees in several areas with numerous opportunities for specialization. The highly-regarded House Officer Program provides one- to three-year internships or residency training in more than 20 clinical specialties and the innovative Clinician Scientist Training Program prepares veterinary researchers. The CVM is unique among veterinary colleges with an on-site Teaching Animal Unit that operates as a working farm and aids in hands-on instruction with large animal medicine and exposes students to basic agriculture principles and farm technology. More than 20,000 patients are diagnosed and treated annually by CVM clinicians and the Veterinary Health Complex at NC State University is a major referral center for veterinarians from throughout the Southeast. These patients are often seriously ill and require the best that veterinary medicine offers. This quality care is delivered with the utmost compassion for patient and owner, a hallmark of the program. The patient case load also allows for instruction and the opportunity for clinical trials that advance animal health and well being. The Veterinary Health Complex is composed of the 110,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Randall B. Terry, Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center, the Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Center, the Veterinary Health and Wellness Center, and Satellite and Field Veterinary Services. Since its inception, the CVM has chosen to put its focus on six specific program areas: Companion Animal Medicine, Food Supply Medicine, Biomedical Research, Ecosystem Health, Equine Medicine, and Animal Welfare. Through these six areas, the NC State CVM prepares the next generation of veterinarians and veterinarian scientists, conducts bench and clinical research to solve animal and human health problems, addresses critical ecosystem and public health issues, helps protect the U.S. food supply, and promotes a clearer understanding and appreciation of the ramifications related to the growing human-animal bond that is at the center of these concerns.

Essential Job Duties: This position will be an integral part of the team involved in consulting and applications development/support instructional design services to faculty, and will work closely with a team of media specialists and instructional technicians in the creation of effective, engaging and integrated online and face-to-face learning environments. The position will report to the Director of Educational Support Services, with the potential for being assigned more formal team leadership responsibilities. * Advise and assist faculty in the creation and evaluation of direct assessments of student competencies in clinical setting * Facilitate the use of instructional principles followed by various instructional design models in assisting faculty needs * Collaborate with other instructional designers and director to design and develop guidelines and tools to improve course materials * Advise and assist faculty in appropriate use of instructional technology to enhance instruction and create new learning environments * Provide instructional design support for faculty to develop instruction based on evidence-based approaches including result-driven and competency-based learning * Develop and teach workshops on the learning technologies and instructional strategies used at CVM * Partner with faculty subject matter experts to support production of effective instructional materials, including interactive exercises, case scenarios, and assessments * Work with other instructional designer to design student competency and performance tracking and assessment system. * Work with other team members in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating instruction with innovative and pedagogically-sound approaches * Represent academic needs in the design, development and implementation of college-based learning management system and related applications * Identify, test, and assist in implementation of emerging technologies in course development * Research and inform up-to-date instructional technologies and best practices in developing instruction.

Minimum Education/Experience: B.A., B.S., or higher in any instructional design/technology, educational media, computer science, training and development, library science, or a related field, and at least 4 years of experience working with clients to integrate technology into instruction, or to function effectively as recipients of instructional technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Department Required Skills: * Must be process oriented, with the ability to plan and coordinate projects, both independently and in teams * Knowledge on data analytics and mining with student data in higher education * Excellent communication skills and the ability to guide and mentor a wide variety of faculty across diverse college departments; ability to collaborate with staff * Demonstrated knowledge of PC applications such as Microsoft Office or the equivalent. * At least 2 years' experience designing content and activities for use in a learning management system (LMS) * Experience in the production of web development * Knowledge and experience of managing lecture capture application * Ability to manage multiple projects in timely manner

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * A Master's degree in any of the listed disciplines is preferred. * Prior experience in a public university setting is preferred. * Documented understanding of NCSU registration and records data, including student, course, and enrollment data and the ability to develop applications using this data * Possess 3 years' experience in a related production environment. * Knowledge of Moodle Learning Management System. * Knowledge of Elluminate/Collaborate virtual classroom environment. * Demonstrated success in the development of instructional multimedia. * Experience in medical education
