Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Industry Expansion Solutions is a major component of the State's economic development operation by diffusing engineering, science, knowledge and technology to North Carolina industry, business, and public agencies for the enhancement of quality, productivity, and environmental protection. This is accomplished by delivering and/or developing professional education and technical assistance that meet the needs of industry leaders and technical professionals and are best practices to promote corporate growth and the production of quality products.

Essential Job Duties: This position provides technical assistance with the Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) clients and partners by delivering IES products/projects in both public and on-site locations. This delivery of services is in the form of coaching and facilitation is used to transfer the knowledge from the incumbent to the client. The experience and knowledge of the incumbent is critical to the success of the client. Public facilitation will include clients from various industries, therefore it is imperative that the incumbent has the ability to relate and discuss the material in ways that are relevant to multiple industries. This position requires some overnight travel within North Carolina throughout the work week. Candidate can be located anywhere in North Carolina. Responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to: * Provide leadership for one or more major products or services in IES. This position could assist with recruiting IES staff at times. The incumbent in this position must stay aware of all IES programs, industry needs, trends, and best practices. * Provide hands-on technical assistance to the clients. The solution to a client's problem will come from the employee's experience with quality management systems, process improvement, problem solving techniques, and coaching/facilitating skills. In some cases, the technical service provided may be to support IES or University overall goals. * Promote all IES services, not only for the specific products, but for the entire range of services to support the IES client. This is achieved through on-site visits, client/partner networking and presentations. * Support the efforts to administer an objective evaluation system that measures the impact of IES programs to the economic benefit to the clients and the state. * Support both the survey process and the production of annual or other reports of program impact that is distributed to stakeholders at the federal, state, and local level. * The Extension Specialist has administrative duties that include providing scope of work for proposals, Salesforce, travel expenses, scheduling, and other normal business reports. *This position is required to attend necessary meetings and travel as required by the client, IES supervisor, and Executive Director.*

Minimum Education/Experience: A Bachelor Degree and 5 years of manufacturing and/or healthcare experience is necessary.

Department Required Skills: - The ability to facilitate and deliver quality management system products is necessary for success. - High proficiency in the use of a personal computer. - Must have excellent communication and project management skills. - Willingness to travel about 75% of the time, including overnight travel.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Working level knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP/PPAP, Control Plans, MSA, SPC and Baldrige is a plus. - Experience implementing quality management systems (i.e. ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, ISO 17025, etc.) is essential.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Must have a valid Drivers License and the ability to obtain a NC Driver's License within the first 60 days of starting. Valid NC Drivers License must be maintained as a condition of employment.
