Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Development is a key member of an energetic team in the Advancement Office, which supports the mission and fundraising priorities of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. It will cultivate and solicit gifts towards the School's top priorities. Responsibilities include: prospecting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a broad portfolio of donors and working with major gift officers, faculty and staff members to develop engagement strategies for potential supporters. The mission of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is to improve public health, promote individual well-being and eliminate health inequities across North Carolina and around the world. The School is ranked as the top public school of public health and is committed to outstanding teaching, research, scholarship and practice to produce public health solutions.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Qualification and Experience: Applicants should have a minimum of 2-3 years of work experience, including experience in annual fund, major gifts, corporate relations, prospect management, sales or other transferable skills. Preferred candidates will possess experience in a higher education setting along with excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills. The ability to motivate, inspire and engender the confidence of prospects and donors is essential. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and achieve goals in a dynamic, collaborative work environment. Ability to interact professionally and effectively in a comprehensive, research university setting with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, donors, faculty, administrators and corporate partners. Ability to work as an integral part of a high-achieving fundraising team in a workplace that encourages health and well-being. Must be willing to make cold calls, able to travel on a regular basis and participate in occasional evening and weekend events as needed.
