Degree and Area of Specialization: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: A minimum of one semester managing a student program, including responsibilities such as designing the program, promoting the program, screening student applicants to the program, mentoring students through the process of application and project launch, tracking and disseminating the results of this program.
Highly desirable knowledge/expertise in sustainability and campus operations.
Communication skills: oral, written, editorial, and reading of technical documents.
Ability to work with diverse constituencies, including students, staff, faculty, and professionals in the campus physical plant.
Ability to respond to daily challenges of the program while staying focused on its longer-term goals.
Position Summary: The Green Fund is an ongoing program of the UW-Madison Office of Sustainability (OS). The Green Fund supports student-initiated projects that reduce the environmental footprint and operating costs of on-campus facilities in the areas of 1) solid waste, 2) energy, and 3) water conservation. The person hired to manage this program would have a wide range of duties that support and ensure the success of the Green Fund, in close consultation with other OS staff members. This person also would assist with the Office's Student Internship program. This position reports to the director of Student Programs.
Additional Information: Renewal is likely, but contingent upon funding, program need, and satisfactory performance.
