Job Description
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available working on synaptic physiology in the laboratory of Dr. David Mott at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or a related field, a record of scientific productivity, strong communication and writing skills, and experience with brain slice electrophysiology. Preference will be given to highly motivated individuals with the promise to take an active role in shaping the research program. Occasional weekend work may be required. The candidate is expected to demonstrate commitment to professional business conduct, including adherence to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. This position is established in support of expanded research activities.


Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Physiology, Neuroscience or a related field. Excellent English speaking/writing skills required. Experience in animal research and record of scientific publication required. Expertise with electrophysiology.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling rodents (rats and mice) and with rodent
surgeries, experience with brain slice electrophysiology,
experience with optogenetics, familiarity with cellular
neurophysiology.
