Position Summary

The Nanoscience Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro seeks to hire a tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department of Nanoscience is a dynamic and transdisciplinary research department located in the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, which is a collaboration of North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Department of Nanoscience has two graduate degree programs, including a Professional MS and a Ph.D. in Nanoscience.

Of particular interest are candidates with demonstrated expertise in research in the following areas of Physical Nanoscience: Low-Dimensional Nanomaterials; 2D Layered Nanomaterials; Nanodevices; NanoEnergy; Molecular Electronics and Bioelectronics. New faculty will be expected to build and maintain a strong externally-supported research program, teach effectively at the graduate level, interact with other researchers in the Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering, convey promising opportunities for collaborative research network, and serve the Department and the UNCG as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate in a relevant Physical Science, i.e. Math, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and/or Computer Science; and have demonstrated a research interest and experience in one or more of the JSNN's transdisciplinary research platforms, i.e. Functional nanomaterials, nanoenergy, nanobioelectronics, nanobiology, nanomaterials and computational nanoscience. Additionally, applicants are expected to have experience teaching at the graduate level, as well as a demonstrated funding and publication record, and have at least two years of relevant post-doctoral experience.
