Position Summary

The Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation invites applications for a nine-month, Academic Professional Track Assistant/Associate Professor position with a start date of August 1 2017. We are looking for a dynamic individual that demonstrates proficiency in teaching, service, community engagement, and scholarly pursuits within the department. As a team player, this individual will make meaningful contributions to the vision and growth of the department, its faculty, staff, and students. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate abilities relative to student recruitment and retention, curriculum development and assessment, and professional development. UNCG is a student-focused university, and therefore, this individual must be committed to providing our students with quality learning experiences.



Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a minimum of a master's degree in recreation, park, and leisure studies or related field; demonstrated ability to teach large undergraduate courses in the professional core, including courses with a service-learning designation; ability to mentor and advise students; and ability to participate in and support scholarly pursuits within the department. It is preferable that this individual has experience in grant writing. Practical experience in the field of recreation is desirable.
