The Academic Educational Technologist will discover, evaluate, integrate, and develop technologies that can improve instruction, and then encourage and support our faculty in the appropriate uses of such technology. The academic educational technologist will evaluate technologies, manage the deployment of new technologies, integrate new technologies with existing systems, troubleshoot problems, consult with faculty and instructional designers on possible course changes, train faculty on using the technologies, assess the impact of technology on teaching and learning, and help manage the systems. Examples include creating and using videos, classroom recording, mobile technologies, and learning management system (Blackboard) integration into teaching. The successful applicant will have to be well organized, have excellent communication skills, and be excited about trying out new technology that might enhance learning.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Evaluate new technologies to discover new and better ways to enhance instruction.
•Assist faculty in discovering methods of improving their instruction with and without technology.
•Conduct training sessions teaching faculty and staff how to use new technologies.
•Conduct research studies evaluating the use of technologies and their impact on student learning outcomes.
•Create training materials to accommodate the self-learners and provide resources for our “customers”.
•Design and Implement workflows to support technology systems.
•Troubleshoot issues that interfere with the use of new systems.
•Integrate new technologies into existing systems using feeds and APIs.
•Manage technology systems for the use of instruction.
•Develop or modify code to enhance features.
•Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
•Skills in Managing one's own time and the time of others.
•The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking/writing so others will understand.
•Strong attention to detail, time/project management and organization skills.
•Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
•The ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
•Knowledge of common practices in systems integration, account management, and security.
•The ability to design and implement workflows to support technologies for the use of instruction.

Requirements (Essential Requirements):
•Bachelor’s degree.
•At least two years’ experience in the use and application of instructional technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
•Experience with web browser configuration and use.

Desired Skills
• Mac OS X and Windows experience.
• Learning or teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
• Knowledge of video and digital image production.
• Project management experience.
• Experience in the development and implementation of training offerings.
• Experience with programming in multiple computer languages.
