The Global Experience Office (GEO) is committed to providing Northeastern students intellectually challenging and culturally enriching opportunities throughout the world. These experiences not only complement students' on-campus studies but also prepare them to become effective leaders in an increasingly global community. GEO does this in two primary programs: traditional study abroad and faculty led study abroad - Dialogue of Civilizations. Through these programs, GEO facilitates global experiences for over 2,700 NU students and 200 additional foreign incoming exchange students.
The GEO Mobility Team is tasked with providing visa support and guidance to students undertaking global experiences during their academic trajectory at Northeastern. In consultation with consular and immigration officials around the globe, the Mobility Team seeks to obtain information relating to the appropriate immigration category and visa/entry requirements for each individual experience, and provide support to individuals as they navigate the application process from start to finish.
The Mobility Assistant works with the Senior Associate Director of Finance and Operations and the Mobility Specialist in the management of all visa support and guidance for global programs. This could include travelers from Global Co-op, Dialogue of Civilizations, Study Abroad and other programs. The Mobility Assistant assists the Mobility Specialist with proactively supporting student and faculty travel documentation and visa needs. The Coordinator also acts as the database administrator for travel documentation pipeline and process which includes coordination with other university departments. Other projects as assigned by the Senior Associate Director of Finance and Operations.
Associate’s degree with one - two years of administrative experience required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent computer, organization and analytical skills required, particularly data administration skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Must be able to work in a highly dynamic environment and adjust to changing priorities quickly. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Able to handle confidential information and remain calm in the stressful situations.
