Our client is in the payments space and is looking to add a Linux Engineers to its Boston office. They are a startup backed with by one of the largest companies in the world and are looking to evolve their payments technology and mobile payment systems. Things you need to have:

B.S. Or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.

5+ years' experience Systems Administration or Systems Engineering experience

Experience working in a software development company managing Ubuntu production server environments

Solid understanding of current web serving technology, including: Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, Java

Understanding of relational database systems like MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Must have strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem solving.

Experience with automated build tools, specifically Jenkins or Bamboo.

Experience administrating, deploying and managing.

High proficiency in bash shell scripting and experience programming command line scripts using Ruby or PHP

Experience automating repeatable tasks.

Strong documentation, oral and written communication skills.

Candidates should be comfortable with Instant Messaging as a primary means of communication.

Working familiarity with MacOS X.

It would be nice if you also have:

Experience administrating with AWS

Understanding of non-relational database systems, specifically Cassandra

Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies

Knowledge of git

Experience with Atlassian products, like Bamboo, Confluence, and Jira

Experience with Check_MK, Nagios, Munin, or Graphite

Proficiency in authoring and managing configuration management scripts using Puppet

What you will be doing:

Preparation and participation in regular production releases

Install, configure, and update packages, patches, and applications

Build, test, deploy, document, and monitor automation scripts

Participate in an on-call tier2 support rotation.

Assist the tier1 NOC in monitoring operations

Participate in TechOps team Scrum

Automate the configuration and deployment of monitoring and management services

Systems administration of Ubuntu Servers

Help improve monitoring and help identify key performance metrics

Write tools and scripts to provide automation and self service solutions

Work closely with developers and other staff to resolve operational issues with customer facing services

Provide hands-on administration and technical support

Perform diagnostics of problems, troubleshoot and develop solutions for operation issues.
