FACULTY POSITION (NON-TENURE TRACK
Faculty Position (Non-Tenure Track): Undergraduate Nursing Program
Temple University College of Public Health (CPH), a multidisciplinary academic center devoted to an innovative educational and research environment that brings a transdisciplinary perspective of health, wellness and social welfare, is seeking applicants for instructional faculty in Nursing.
Position and Qualifications. We seek professional nurses with teaching experience in an undergraduate nursing program and work experience in public health nursing and community-based settings. Faculty responsibilities will include planning, teaching, and evaluating classroom curriculum for BSN students and oversight of community-based clinical courses, including direct supervision of students in community settings. Qualifications include: Master of Science in Nursing degree required, doctorate in nursing or related field preferred; a minimum of 3-5 years nursing experience required. Must be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
The Department. The Temple Department of Nursing offers two accredited programs, including an 8-semester, 4-year BSN program, with freshmen admission and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program that includes a post baccalaureate option, one of the few such programs in the region, as well as a post master’s options, and two specialty concentrations: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care and Family-Individual Across the Lifespan. The BSN program is recognized for its high NCLEX pass rate, clinical affiliations with some of the best health care facilities in the Philadelphia area and an innovative four-year ‘community home’ rotation with a population-based, service-learning focus.
The College. Devoted to a transdisciplinary environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health has seen remarkable growth and organizational expansion its programs and research profile. CPH has the highest external funding per faculty and second highest total research dollars among the 17 schools and colleges at the University. The College’s innovative research focuses on health-related interventions, social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, and
basic science. A constellation of 9 academic units of public health, nursing and other health professions, and social work disciplines, the College enrolls 4,600 students in 51 academic programs.
The University. An urban, research-intensive university, Temple is experiencing unprecedented growth and moving up quickly in rankings. For example, the University is ranked by the National Science Foundation as among the top 100 universities in the country for research. Temple is the 5th largest provider of professional education in the nation with Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Dentistry in addition to research centers including the NCI- designated Fox Chase Cancer Center and CPH’s Center for Obesity Research and Education.
Appointment Terms. This is a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position and may be made at the rank of Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, dependent on qualifications.
