We are looking for a skilled Service Manager experienced in construction or service related department management. Qualified candidates will have experience supervising service office, field and sales functions.

What to expect

The Service Manager is responsible of overall management of service and repair department. Experience in roofing is important, experience managing an organization with P&L knowledge, ability to budget, measure, organize and motivate personnel plus experience in sales and customer service.

Must have commercial roofing experience to be considered for this position.

Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:

o Provide leadership to the service department and within the company

o Study methods of improving work measurements and performance standards

o Creation of management reports such as profitability report, and bid log

o Know and stay abreast of design requirements, codes and materials; use expertise to prepare accurate and competitive proposals and contracts

o Ensure service vehicles, equipment and employees present a clean and professional image

o Scheduling and dispatch of field personnel daily

o Stay current on new developments and technologies in roofing

o Supervise employees for maximum performance

o Determine training needs for repair technicians; organize and direct needed training in safety, quality and customer satisfaction

o Willing to learn and teach best practices for roofing service, inspection and roof system maintenance by fully participating in on-the-job training as well as periodic manufacturer training

o Recruit, train, mentor and retain a dependable and knowledgeable maintenance workforce

o Ensure crews are adhering to OSHA and company safety regulations

o Comply with all safety policies and procedures, be an example, and support the company safety goals and objectives
o Understand and follow safety, operations and administration procedures

o Maintain customer relationships and satisfaction

o Handle customer relationships for all service work

o Affirm jobs are completed to the quality level promised

o Manage department finances, including budgets and project invoicing

o Review jobs, time tickets and materials invoices for projects

o Responsible for all billings and collection of bills

o Documents project discrepancy between budget and actual

Work Skills - Service managers must stay familiar with company products and services to maintain company standards in service work; also must be able to calmly track multiple ongoing jobs.

Analysis - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; the ability to conduct roof inspections and detect and repair roof system problems

Roof system knowledge - Knowledge of various roof systems and materials and methods of repair and maintenance and the ability to teach others

Project management - Coordinate projects, communicate changes and monitor progress

Problem solving - Develop alternative solutions; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics

Planning/organizing - Prioritize and plan work activities; organize or schedule service department employees and their tasks

Effective communication - Ability to convey information, concepts and concerns to people with differing communication styles

Oral Communication - Speak in a clear and professional manner

Written Communication - Able to read and interpret written information; write legibly and informatively

Math - Ability to perform math calculations relevant to roofing work

Technology - Ability to use phones, tablets and other technology tool

Budgeting - Ability to understand implications of change orders and lost production on job budgets

Education and Experience

Essential
  • Roofing production supervision experience
  • English fluency
  • Extensive knowledge of safety regulations for roofing and OSHA requirements.
  • Understanding of commercial/industrial roofing system design and installation, code compliance and manufacturers requirements for warranty
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to use/learn business technology

Preferred
  • Five years' roofing production supervision experience
  • Bilingual fluency
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
