The Center for Academic and Career Development houses Academic Resources/Academic Advising, Career Services, Student Outreach & Support and the University Chaplain's Office which are part of the Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence Division. This is a busy and active office site whose staff hosts many events throughout the year. The Office Assistant assists in the smooth operation of the front desk, reception area and office suite. The Center for Academic and Career Development fosters an inclusive environment that welcomes, supports and celebrates students, alumni, faculty and staff.
The Office Assistant provides a high standard of service excellence to both internal and external customers. They interact with students, alumni, parents, staff, faculty and employers. Responsibilities include answering multi-line phones, scheduling student/recent graduate appointments efficiently and accurately and answering a variety of questions. Frequently required to effectively communicate verbally with students and employees of the University. They assist the Office Manager in the operation and functions of the front desk and reception are. This positions performs necessary computer tasks accurately and in a timely manner, and routine clerical duties and special projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse organization and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
- Must have excellent people skills and function effectively in a high traffic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Good judgement, problem solving skills and discretion are critical
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of work experience in an office setting.
- Some college or Associate's degree.
