Responsibilities

This position will begin in August 2017 and run through June 2019. Night, weekend, and holiday work is required.

Full-time GA: Works 300 hours total each semester of the assistantship (which averages 20 hours per week in a typical 15 wk semester). Full-time GAs receive a waiver of 9 credits of their graduate tuition each semester of the assistantship.

Marymount University is seeking candidates for a graduate assistant position within the Athletic Communications office.

The successful applicant will serve a two-year assistantship, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the office which serves the Division III Athletic department of 17 varsity sports.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact for at least one sport each season throughout the year.

Duties will include, but not be limited to all preparations for sports. Individual is responsible for:
  • creation of press releases,
  • preparation of game day programs,
  • statistical input,
  • video highlights and other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

*You must be accepted into Marymount as a graduate student OR upon being offered the assistantship show proof of having been accepted into Marymount as a graduate student.

*You must be registered for at least 6 graduate credits during any semester in which you are awarded a GA position.

*For current students, graduate GPA must be at least 3.0. For entering graduate students, undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.0.

*Experience in athletic communications/sports information or media relations.

*Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays.


Preferred Qualifications

*Accepted students enrolled full-time are given preference over part-time students

*Undergraduate degree in related field such as communications, journalism, or sports management.

*Experience with StatCrew statistical software(baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball,) and Adobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop and Premier preferred.
