Excelsior College, a regionally accredited, virtual, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning is seeking dynamic applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant in the School of Nursing.



Summary



The Administrative Assistant will perform diversified secretarial and administrative functions, which require ability to learn and apply established policies and practices. Productive organizational skills and flexible interpersonal communication skills are required to ensure that specialized projects and the daily work flow are organized, prioritized and accurately completed within prescribed time frames.

The Administrative Assistant will demonstrate proficient knowledge of computer applications and word processing and utilize initiative and good decision making skills to assist with and/or coordinate detailed office functions and provide assistance for administrative and business details by performing the following duties.

This is a full-time position with benefits based at our 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY campus.



Responsibilities


  • Answer telephone and provide information to callers or route calls to appropriate contact
  • Assist and support with unit communications relating to college issues, staff and external businesses
  • Support and assist with coordination of logistical activities associated with Unit planning, training and information sessions
  • Schedule administrative meetings, forums and appointments
  • Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business, and direct visitors to employer or appropriate person
  • Create, modify, maintain databases and administrative directories
  • Develop and maintain updated filing systems
  • Organize and track office expenditures and staff travel
  • Record minutes of staff meetings
  • Process conference registrations and travel as necessary
  • Process purchase requests and adjunct/consulting faculty payment as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or GED required,
  • A Minimum of 4 years of related experience and/or training
  • Utilize flexible business communication skills to provide quality staff/student service
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is critical
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as team member
  • Work flexible hours as needed
  • High level of proficiency utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite ©, applications and willingness to learn new computer software
