ASSISTANT PROFESSOR 9 MO TENURE-TRACK

Position Summary: Faculty members deliver instruction, carry out research, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the University through shared governance. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University.
- The Artist/Assistant Professor of Flute will teach undergraduate and graduate applied Flute.
- This person will also be responsible for recruiting, retaining and advising music majors in the Flute studio.
- The applicant will pursue an active performance/creative/scholarly agenda and participate fully in the responsibilities of faculty membership (student advisement, curriculum development, service activities).
- Additional duties will be assigned based on the strengths of the selected applicant and needs of the department.
General Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; exact schedule will be determined in consultation with Department Chair and Student Needs.

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree in Flute is required, a doctorate or commensurate experience is preferred; a strong commitment to recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding Flute students; evidence of ongoing creative, performing, or research activities; demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups associated with a major university music program including students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, and community members.
