General Summary: The Center for Language Education (CLE) at UNG, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State's EducationUSA Academy and World Learning, offers a four-week EducationUSA Academy in July. The Academy is a full-time, immersive English language camp that provides international high school students with 20 hours per week of academic English classes and language instruction to develop their English abilities and prepare them for the university application process. The college preparation program includes opportunities to visit at least four universities in Georgia, listen to university professors, career counselors, and university admission's officers, and attend workshops on U.S. history and culture and a creativity / critical thinking class to develop their skills of problem solving, analysis, and interpretation. The Academy also offers opportunities for the international students studying English to talk and interact through sports and cultural activities with American high school students studying another language on the UNG-Dahlonega campus through the U.S. government's Federal Service Language Academy (FSLA). International high school students attending the Academy will develop their presentation and discussion skills, listening abilities, TOEFL test preparation, and written assignments such as preparing a university admission essay. International high school students attending the Academy live in UNG residence dormitory, receive their meals in the Dining Hall, and attend cultural field trips on the weekends. The Academy will employ full-time Instructors, Counselors, Tutors, and a Camp Manager.

The dates for the 2017 Academy are June 29 - July 28.
