The Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy at Montclair State University invites applications for the position of Chair with open faculty rank for the newly formed Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy (launching fall 2017).
The Center hosts New Jersey's premiere academic program for students pursuing a career working on behalf of children. The Center's distinguished faculty include professionals from the disciplines that define public child welfare, including social work, psychology, and law. This multidisciplinary lens provides students with a unique educational perspective with which to navigate the intricacies of the public child welfare system and beyond. The Center currently offers a number of academic programs, including B.A. and M.A. degrees in child advocacy and policy, as well as an undergraduate minor in social work. Coinciding with the newly formed Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy, the unit is actively building an M.S.W. program with a concentration in children, youth, and families with an anticipated launch of fall 2018. The Department will house the Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy, which will oversee various grants and training programs related to child advocacy and public child welfare.
The Chair will supervise the Department's existing academic programs, which include a minor in social work, and a B.A. and M.A. in child advocacy and policy (campus and online tracks).
The Chair will lead the implementation of a new Master's in Social Work (MSW) program (currently under development with a concentration in children, youth, and families; anticipated launch date of fall 2018).
Responsibilities also include leadership of ten tenure track and full-time instructional staff, teaching one course per semester, and the pursuit of external funding.
Qualifications & Requirements
• PhD in Social Work or a related discipline.
• Master of Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
• Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in obtaining external funding, teaching and scholarship, and familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards.
• Experience in program and curriculum development and college teaching experience.
• Knowledge of the New Jersey public child welfare system.
