The Dean's Office is seeking applications for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Desktop Support Analyst (IT Professional) position.

Job Summary:
Jobs in this career family develop, maintain, and support computer systems, software and networks. Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Position Emphasis:

This position will be a member of a team that is responsible for providing desktop information technology support for departments within the School of Medicine. This position will provide support for approximately 400 users including faculty, staff and students within assigned departments/divisions.

The Desktop Support Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining personal computers and local area network (LAN).
  • Troubleshooting networks, systems and applications in order to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Interacting with users to determine problems, analyze situations, identify the source of the problems, determine appropriate solutions and take proper actions required to solve the problems.
  • Performing a variety of maintenance, evaluation, and training tasks to ensure optimal computer performance and user experience.
  • Approving entries in the Human Resources Management System and ensuring that data entered is correct and appropriate.
  • Strategizing with departments, schools and colleges on recruitment and selection ideas and solutions.
  • Performing special assignments and various projects as assigned.


PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level experience providing desktop/network support which included installing, configuring and maintaining personal computers and local area network (LAN).

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not the specific experience.

Conditions of Employment: Must be willing and able to...

  • Perform physical activities including bending, stooping, standing and sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally work evenings and/or weekends in response to the needs of the systems being supported.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience providing desktop/network support.
  • Experience working with a wide range of computer network systems including Windows servers and networking applications.
  • Experience providing technical training and support to users.
