Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position is a key member of the University Accounting Services team. The position is primarily responsible for supporting daily and monthly financial responsibilities. The position will assist in developing analytical procedures and recommending process improvements. Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Prepares journal entries including Departmental Charge Authorizations and maintains financial records and files.
  • Prepares and reconciles bank accounts on a monthly basis. Resolves reconciling items timely.
  • Oversees and posts daily transmittals from student center, recreation center, and conferences and events.
  • Assists with the campus wide physical inventory.
  • Maintains vendor invoice spreadsheets and ensures timely payments to the book store and other miscellaneous central service providers.
  • Manages escheat database and prepares Unclaimed Property Holder Report to be submitted to the State.
  • Assists in compiling data to support the post compliance bond issue compliance.
  • Participates in the annual financial statement audit.
  • Performs other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as assigned by management.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience in higher education or the nonprofit industry is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately.
  • Ability to think and work independently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good accounting/GAAP knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and Cognos is preferred.
