William Paterson University invites applications for the position of Assistant to the Dean of Library Services.
Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, the Assistant to the Dean performs general administrative and supervisory duties in a multi-tiered professional office environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing appropriate interpretation and application of University and Library procedures, coordinating inter and intra-office projects and activities as well as processing and responding to online and written Library feedback. The Assistant maintains departmental monthly budget reports and requisition processes; prepares correspondence, reports, and maintains essential records. S/he coordinates the hiring of student assistants; attends and records departmental meeting minutes; maintains the Dean’s calendar and coordinates administration activities for Library staff members.
A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position and two (2) years of administrative experience are required. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of and proficiency in the use of advanced functions of MS Office applications and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Evidence of the ability to respond to organizational, administrative and logistical issues; work experience in a post-secondary setting and knowledge of an Enterprise Information System are preferred.
