General Statement:

The Instructional Aide II position provides support to faculty and staff related to the implementation of universal design (accessibility) into instruction. In addition, this position will provide support for the ongoing professional development work provided by the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning (CTTL) related to the implementation of the Student Equity Plan.

This is a temporary position funded by the Student Equity Plan and may be eliminated once the grant funding has been exhausted.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and exposure to universal design and/or accessibility guidelines
• Successful work experience in an educational or professional environment
• Demonstrated skills in respectful, sensitive communication with people of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities
• Ability to work autonomously with little supervision and comfortable suggesting ideas for new projects
• Skill in written and oral communication, including public speaking
• Skill in multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working independently
• Skill in the use of a variety of computer software to prepare correspondence, reports, and job aids
• Skill in setting up and maintaining online and manual files

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of universal design/accessibility issues
2. Skill in working with diverse adult learning styles
3. Skill in clear and direct oral communication, including public speaking
4. Skill in establishing and maintaining respectful, sensitive communication and working relationships with people at all levels within an organization who are diverse in their cultures, language groups, and abilities
5. Skill in written communication
6. Skill in performing routine research within a designated subject matter area
7. Skill in using a variety of computer software to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, publicity, and other materials
8. Ability to communicate with individuals and small and large groups; work in close proximity with individuals
9. Ability to compare data and interpret data to others
10. Ability to demonstrate flexibility, tact, and patience

Preferred Qualifications:
