RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: Under supervision, perform multiple research procedures and experiments in a lab focusing on cell excitability. Perform molecular biology experiments such as generation of mutant DNAs. Perform biochemical experiments including expression, isolation, and purification of expressed proteins. Maintain cell lines. Perform heterologous expression of proteins in cell lines and frog oocytes. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment. Isolate tissues from mice.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field and 0 to 1 year of lab experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred. Must have strong organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential. Must be able to work with mouse and rat tissues.
