Position Summary: The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University, invites applications for a Health Programs Faculty Appointment (HP) positions in cardiology. The HP faculty member is expected to devote at least 50% of their time to providing clinical patient care services. Conduct of scholarly work that expands the art and science of veterinary medicine is expected and should include both principal and collaborative work that reflects the faculty members' interests and specialization. The proportion of time devoted to scholarly work is negotiable and will represent between 10% to 30% of the individual's appointment. In addition, the faculty member is obligated to participate in clinical and preclinical teaching of veterinary medical students, interns, residents, international scholars, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and practicing professionals. Other responsibilities include student and house officer advising and serving the academic community through various committee and administrative assignments. Reappointment, promotion, and annual merit pay raises are based on the faculty member's performance and the proportion of time assigned to each activity.

The cardiology service has a strong program with a busy caseload, residency training program, interventional and surgical cardiovascular therapies, and active research programs. State of the art equipment and facilities currently available include GE E9 Doppler echocardiographic machine with multiple transducers (including transesophageal and intra-cardiac echocardiography capabilities), pacemaker programmers, Lifecard CF Holter recording and Pathfinder SL computer analyzing software and Event recording. The Veterinary Medical Center has a recently renovated 2200 sq. ft2 catheterization laboratory with GE Innova imaging. Other imaging modalities available within the hospital include nuclear imaging, 1.5 T MRI and CT scanner.

Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements Applicants must have a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Michigan (limited academic licensure is available). Specialty board certification in cardiology is preferred but board-eligible candidates will be
considered.

Desired Qualifications: An advanced research degree, although not required, will be favorably considered. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff.
