The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Respirology at Women's College Hospital (WCH) is seeking to recruit a qualified full-time academic respirologist to serve as Head of the Division of Respirology, Department of Medicine. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.

The mandate of the individual appointed to this leadership role will be to build and further advance the academic and clinical ambulatory Respirology program at WCH, Ontario, Canada. The ideal candidate will be a leader with a record of excellence and established skills in the areas of clinical care, administration, education and/or research, and change management. The successful candidate must also hold a MD degree, be eligible for certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. The expected start date of the position is July 1st, 2017, or a mutually agreeable date.

The incumbent will also mentor faculty and promote and enforce professional practice and behaviour within the Division. Lastly, the incumbent will develop strategic partnerships with the other TAHSN hospitals and develop and implement strategies to evolve the Division as a model for ambulatory teaching, QI, research and delivery of clinical care in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Women's College Hospital is the first independent, fully ambulatory hospital in Ontario and is a University of Toronto fully-affiliated teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have academic aspirations that are aligned with the mission, vision and values of WCH. Women's College Hospital is committed to advancing and advocating for the health care options for all by researching, evaluating, teaching, disseminating and delivering new treatments and models of system-integrated care. Three broad themes are at the core of the hospital and the Department of Medicine's strategic focus: health system solutions; complex chronic conditions; and health for women. Women's College Hospital is the home of the recently established University of Toronto Centre for Ambulatory Care Education (CACE), and the WCH Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV).

The initial appointment is for a five-year term and renewable thereafter, based on successful performance reviews. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Compensation will also depend upon the amount of clinical work performed but will be in the usual range for an experienced academic respirologist in the Province of Ontario at a minimum of approximately $200,000 per year.

Applications will be accepted until April 21st, 2017 or until the position is filled.
