Teaching Professors/Academic Specialists teach elementary through advanced language courses in the World Languages Center. Duties include a teaching load of 3 courses per semester, directed studies, course and materials design and development, as well as participation in departmental meetings, workshops, student outreach, and other initiatives. This is a one-year, non-tenure track, renewable position with full benefits, which will begin on August 28, 2017.
The successful applicant should be well trained in the teaching of German as a foreign language, have experience teaching languages using technology, and possess native or near native proficiency in German. A degree in German applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or pedagogy is highly desirable. A Master’s degree is required (Ph.D. degree preferred), along with previous college-level teaching experience. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
