Job Description - Junior Financial Advisor

Ken Stern & Associates is a boutique financial planning firm looking for a Junior Financial Advisor with investment sales and financial planning experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The Junior Financial Advisor will support the firm in all aspects of the financial planning and investment process. Day to day duties will include sales and outbound marketing of products and workshops as well as coordination of client financial plans and investment strategies. They will also provide direct support to the principals and associates of the firm. This position is designed to familiarize the employee with the firm goals and sales techniques while preparing for a transition into a Regional Financial Advisor within a year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conceptualize and execute marketing/prospecting plans
  • Develop sales techniques by making calls
  • Work under senior advisors to learn how to effectively network, prospect, market and meet with current and potential clients
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of client investment portfolios and investment reports
  • Compile and input client data and current account information into financial planning software to create current portfolio reviews
  • Perform portfolio analyses and prepare periodic investment performance reports
  • Communicate with firm's clients as appropriate
  • Support firm principals and associates in meeting preparation, client investment needs and planning needs
  • Provide office administrative support, phone support
  • Ensure confidentiality with respect to all information pertaining to client and potential clients

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience in financial planning/investment/banking/ or related field
  • 1+ years of sales experience
  • Securities licenses listed preferred, but not required: Series 7 and Series 66, or Series 65
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in working with clients
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs
  • Experience with financial planning software
  • Has the ability to learn & adapt to changes in technology
