Director of International Enrollment Partnerships

The George Mason University Office of the Provost invites applications for Director of International Enrollment Partnerships within the Division of Enrollment Management. The Division for Enrollment Management supports core elements of the Mason strategic plan related to enrollment and new student enrollment strategy, retention and graduation. The mission of the division is to foster student success by connecting students and families to resources that open doors to a world-class education and the opportunities fundamental to the Mason student experience. The division strives to provide quality, timely, and efficient student service from recruitment through graduation and to collaborate with members of the Mason community in support of the university vision and strategic plan.

The Director of International Enrollment Partnerships manages a team of professionals to successfully identify new potential university partners, execute new agreements, and maintain existing partnerships to increase the enrollment of international students at George Mason University. They will develop partnerships with international institutions and organizations sponsoring international students to enroll undergraduate freshmen, transfer, graduate and non-degree students. Duties will include the following:

  • Be a key contributor to the Enrollment Management Leadership Team and will lead the strategic planning efforts for international enrollment partnerships that align with Mason's strategic plan;
  • Maximize enrollment out of existing enrollment partnerships while growing new partnerships with reputable institutions that will both drive enrollment and project Mason's brand identity on an international stage;
  • Collaborate with Mason academic units and prioritize positive working relationships with all university stakeholders;
  • Responsible for managing both a team of individuals dedicated to the identification and execution of new international enrollment agreements and a separate team dedicated to the maintenance of existing programs;
  • Design communication plans, train and hire professional staff, build processes, assemble documentation, provide support to international campus visitors, including delegations and visiting scholars, and apply a results-oriented approach to building new international student enrollment through partnered relationships;
  • Participate in significant international travel and will represent Mason at professional conferences domestically; and
  • Integrate enrollment partnership work with other global initiatives and in collaboration with academic units, Global Education Office, Office of Admissions, INTO Mason, Office of International Programs/Services, and the division for Academic Innovation/New Ventures.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in a related field;
  • Experience working with international students (minimum of five years is preferred);
  • Experience with program management and understanding of business principles;
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing plans and tactics to increase enrollment of students from other countries; and
  • Familiarity with contracts or agreements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the creation of partnership agreements or the execution of existing agreements;
  • A portfolio of demonstrated and sustained international engagements and partnerships;
  • Project management experience to manage work flow processes and project delivery methods; and
  • Experience working in a research university environment.
