The Assistant Director for Administrative Planning supports major projects and initiatives in the Office of the Executive Vice President (OEVP) http://evp.princeton.edu/.
The assistant director (AD) acts as project coordinator, process improvement specialist, analyst, and part of the administrative planning team that support the activities of the OEVP and its reporting units. The role provides an opportunity to participate in a breadth of efforts to strengthen the University's operations and enhance campus infrastructure. This position is ideal for a highly motivated, achievement oriented professional who is looking to begin or redirect their career path in higher education or not-for-profit administration.
The AD reports to the executive director for administrative planning (ED). The ED serves as chief of staff for the Executive Vice President (EVP), who has direct oversight of audit and compliance, campus life, environmental health and safety, facilities, human resources, public safety, and university services.
We are looking for an excellent problem solver (e.g. strategic, structured, and data-driven) with an aptitude for strong data analysis, process improvement, and project coordination along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be curious about how things work, resourceful at finding data that is not readily available, highly skilled at analyzing information and discovering insights that produce real-world impact, detail oriented, observant of and sensitive to the culture of the University, driven both to get things done and to learn, highly discrete, inherently collegial, and an excellent writer and communicator. The successful candidate will have a bias toward quality and accuracy and will demonstrate exceptional judgment and integrity, as well as authentic interest in issues affecting higher education.
The activities of the assistant director include, but are not limited to: staffing or supporting task forces and project teams; managing cyclical funding processes and supporting the development of requests for additional resources from units reporting to the OEVP; and preparing administrative reports, meeting minutes, position papers, high level correspondence, and presentation materials for EVP committees and initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education.
- Strong information management, writing, organizational, and project management skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and proven attention to detail partnered with the ability to think strategically.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, interpret and present data (quantitative and qualitative) for varying constituencies and purposes.
- Effective organizational and project coordination skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral/written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; including the ability to identify mutual interests and create consensus among stakeholders.
