Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track Master of Science in Analytics Program

Job Summary:

The Analytics Program at the University of San Francisco invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2017.

This position is open in the field of analytics and data science and doctoral areas include, but are not limited to applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, operations research, accounting, economics, and finance. Relevant research fields include, but are not limited to, machine learning, distributed computing, business strategy, signal processing and statistical learning. The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching within a culturally diverse environment, as well as the potential for excellence in research and scholarship.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses in the Analytics Program and may also teach undergraduate courses in Data Science. The expected teaching load for this position at USF is two courses per semester with an additional third course every fourth semester (2-2-2-3 over two years). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the program and college, as well as maintain an active research program that engages students when possible. Close interaction between students, faculty and industry is a hallmark of the program. The position will include practicum partner recruitment as well as practicum mentoring and duties with our industry partners.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in a field related to Analytics earned by August 2017. A strong record of teaching at the university level, evidence of scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required.

Candidates with significant and demonstrated excellence in teaching and research as well as interest in a leadership role in the analytics program may be considered for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Special consideration will be given to candidates with industry management experience in the field of data science and analytics and experience teaching at the graduate level in this area.
