The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking an established scientist to assume the position of Director of its Division of Biostatistics and to lead new research initiatives in the School of Medicine, the Health System and across the university. The Department and the Division have a history of deep commitment to developing new approaches for the interpretation and management of basic and applied health-related data so that both UVA investigators and their patients as well as the public can make informed and equitable health care choices. The successful candidate will have the credentials to earn tenure in the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the School of Medicine's Academic Investigator track with a nationally recognized research program, a record of scholarly achievement, and outstanding leadership abilities.
Successful candidates will have outstanding leadership abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with faculty, staff and students. In addition, the successful candidate will have a current and past track record of extramural funding. Extensive successful experience in a similar position within a peer institution is desirable. Applicant must have a PhD in Biostatistics or a related area, a record of scholarly achievement and evidence of strong nationally recognized research program are required. Commitment to the mission, vision and core values of the University is necessary. Proven ability to build and expand relationships with others; and, history of service oriented leadership with high levels of integrity, honesty and commitment is a must.
