DIRECTOR OF POLICY RESEARCH AND ENGAGEMENT
Duties: The Senior Research Investigator will be responsible for overseeing policy-related research at the Center, including developing new research projects and managing ongoing research projects. A key component of the position's activities will be developing, launching, and directing a new policy focused research effort at the Center, the Resilience Policy Lab. This lab will conduct rigorous research and policy analysis with partners across the University of Pennsylvania and at research institutions around the world, and will also cultivate partnerships with the public and private sectors. The lab, by taking the principles of business incubators and applying them to policy, aims to achieve concrete progress on intractable problems related to natural disasters and climate change, moving creative, innovative and bold ideas past the 'what if' stage. We expect the policy lab to bring in a substantial amount of new funding and grants, as well as potentially further supplement our existing funding and grant activities. Moreover, in partnership with the other Center directors, the Senior Research Investigator will develop and execute a broad policy engagement strategy for the Center, interact with policymakers on Center research, launch a research assistant program for the Center, and in conjunction with the Director for Sponsored Research, interact directly with sponsors on Center research.
