Duties: The Linguistic Data Consortium (LDC) is an open consortium of universities, libraries, corporations and government research laboratories. It was formed in 1992 to address the critical data shortage then facing language technology research and development. It has grown into a data center that creates, shares and archives language resources including corpora, software and specifications. LDC is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and is a center within the University's School of Arts and Sciences. LDC's connection with Penn provides a strong foundation for the Consortium's research and outreach to an active and diverse member community.

The membership coordinator is the primary contact with LDC's community and thus plays an important role in maintaining the current high level of satisfaction among Consortium members and data users and in promoting the benefits of membership and licensing data from LDC.

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for providing customer service and for processing requests regarding LDC membership, publications and license agreements and facilitating related transactions through LDC's e-commerce system. Position conducts annual member outreach, retention and renewal campaigns at the direction of the Communications Coordinator and Associate Director, External Relations and maintains LDC's membership and associated databases, membership agreements and publications license agreements. Coordinates shipment of LDC publications and maintains publications inventory. Additional responsibilities include preparing and transmitting LDC's monthly newsletter, preparing periodic reports, maintaining membership pages on LDC's website and coordinating the data scholarship program.

DUTIES:
*Provide customer service and process requests regarding LDC membership, publications and license agreements; facilitate related transactions through LDC's e-commerce system. This includes data entry and verification, monitoring electronic deliveries and related customer support.

*Conduct annual member outreach, retention and renewal campaigns, including developing contact lists, communicating via email and phone and logging discussion details.

*Maintain LDC's membership and associated databases, membership agreements and publications license agreements assuring accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience in membership or customer service in a non-profit setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strongly preferred: Experience with member management, order fulfillment, data query and reporting systems.

Also required: Exceptional customer orientation and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work in a team setting; ability to handle high volume workload in a fast-paced environment; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; ability to organize and manage multiple priorities; experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Preferred: Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies; experience editing website content with Drupal content management system.
