ASSOC DIRECTOR C
Duties: The Penn Humanities Forum, soon to be renamed the Wolf Humanities Center, is an independent research center reporting to the Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, University of Pennsylvania. Through its research and public programming, its purpose is to show how vital the humanities are to the life of the mind and the health of society, and how connected they are with the most innovative research in medicine, law, business, and the sciences.
Reporting to the faculty director, the associate director is the senior administrative staff member of the Penn Humanities Forum (hereafter Wolf Humanities Center). The associate director oversees the administration and implementation of Center programs, and is responsible for program operations, financial management, communications, and personnel management. The associate director advises the director on matters pertaining to university relations, institutional strategies, financial planning, and programmatic priorities, and represents the Center to all constituents both on and off campus. The associate director serves as an ex officio member on advisory and planning committees, and collaborates with the director on policy-making and significant decisions within the Center as well as its annual reporting and grant writing.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and three to five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Master's degree, ideally in a humanities or arts discipline, with 7 years to 10 years of experience is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and high attention to detail, including ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, administrators, alumni, donors, the general public, and distinguished visitors, and to communicate interdisciplinary humanities research in a national and international context.
Experienced in fiscal management, preferably in a university or non-profit setting.
Experienced in developing and implementing institutional strategies.
Experienced in applying information technology and digital tools and approaches in a humanities setting.
Institutional familiarity with the University of Pennsylvania a plus.
