Usual Duties: The Web Services Librarian is responsible for the planning, design, maintenance, and evaluation of the Library's web presence to improve user experience, and ensure reliable operation of the Library's web content. This position is also expected to teach library information and research classes to both undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in the development of the Library's instruction program. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: - Oversees Library's website, chairs the Library Web Team, applies up to date technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, API integration, etc.), and maintains general understanding of CMS systems. - Provides formal and informal library instruction and/or research assistance to groups and individuals as needed or as assigned. - Collaborates with Research and Instruction Librarians and other library units to develop and conduct continuous evaluation and assessment of the library's web content, and improve user experiences in discovering and accessing online library resources, instruction, and services. - Works with SHSUOnline, the university's distance education and technologies unit, to collaborate effectively with distance learning initiatives. - Administers technical aspects of the library's Springshare suite, including Libguides (research guides), LibAnswers, LibCal, etc. - Collaborates with other library units and university departments, including IT@Sam, to identify, design, or configure technologies to deliver user-centered library services and ensure compliance with university and industry standards for security, privacy, and accessibility. - Develops and recommends policies, standards, and guidelines for web presence development, implementation, and management. - Identifies emerging trends and best practices in library web services, technologies, and systems; advocates for ones appropriate for the SHSU library. - Participates in the reference service rotations, including some weekends and evenings. - Performs collection development and curriculum review responsibilities as assigned. - Participates in professional activities, professional development, scholarly research, publication, and service activities as outlined in Academic Policy Statement 900417, Faculty Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion.

Degree Requirements: A degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited master's program.
