Posting Summary:
The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning within the Curry School of Education seeks applicants for a Motivate Lab Research Specialist and/or Research Specialist Intermediate. Multiple hires may be made and applicants will be hired at the level commensurate with their qualifications. This is a restricted position and continuation is based on performance and funding. There are currently two years of funding in place.

The incumbent provides research coordination and project support on multiple research projects. Incumbent is responsible for creating data collection protocols and coordinating data collection, data cleaning, and data management, overseeing student data collectors, conducting literature review, and assisting with the presentation of findings. Duties also include maintaining project timelines and deliverables and implementing project changes as necessary.

A bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline is required for either position.

For the Research Specialist one year experience in social science research involving data and statistical analysis is required.

For the Research Specialist Intermediate a minimum of three years' of experience performing social science research is required. One year experience in in data management and statistical analysis is required. Experience creating and following data collection protocols, such as observations, interviews, focus groups, and surveys. A master's degree is preferred and may substitute for experience.

Both levels require or prefer the following:
Experience working with large-scale data sets for social science research and educational research is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to interact effectively with a diverse team of internal and external constituencies and working as part of a team. Ability to work with large-scale data sets and create data reports is a must. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment is essential, as are strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Must be able to travel out of state approximately once per month for 2-3 days. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), and use of the internet. Knowledge and the use of statistical research software such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata are required.
