Professor of Molecular Epidemiology
The University of Kentucky's Markey Cancer Center is currently seeking a Molecular Epidemiologist. This position will receive a faculty appointment at Professor level, and serve as co-Leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program (CP). This position will be instrumental in coordinating efforts of CP operations to ensure the short- and long-term goals and objectives are achieved.
Additional duties will include: leading the recruitment of faculty interested in molecular and genetic epidemiology, and helping build up the precision medicine initiatives in the MCC. The Molecular Epidemiologist will also mentor faculty in the Cancer Center and other staff (e.g., postdoctoral fellows, MD/PhD students, and graduate students) and assist these individuals to develop their research and teaching skills.
This position will enhance UK's cancer prevention and control initiatives through: building research programs in molecular and genetic epidemiology, expanding the cancer prevention program, building new programs utilizing resources available at MCC and the SEER Cancer Registry (e.g., applying integrative genomic and epidemiological approach to other cancer types), and developing new programs in pharmacogenetic epidemiology.
This position will be expected to participate in Departmental teaching activities, lecturing in area of expertise, directing courses as appropriate, and perhaps developing a new course focused on expertise that benefits the University. Minimal teaching will be expected in the first two years of your appointment.
