Clinical Placement Manager - Nursing
The Clinical Placement Manager assumes a leadership role in establishing partnerships between the Department of Nursing and clinical facilities for the purpose of securing quality placements for all students in the nursing program, recruiting qualified clinical faculty in collaboration with lead faculty and the Department Chair. Additional responsibilities include clinical placement analysis and assessment, participation in activities required for program accreditation and Colorado State Board of Nursing approval, and operational management of clinical placements.

Full Time Administrators
1) Student Clinical Placements (50%)
a. Provide leadership as the primary liaison with Colorado hospitals and health care facilities for the MSU Denver Nursing Department.
b. Assess potential agencies that would meet the identified educational requirements for nursing students.
c. Collaborate with clinical agencies to procure and maintain clinical placements.
d. Collaborate with nursing faculty & Department Chair to evaluate and match the needs of students to agencies with appropriate learning experiences.
e. Represent the Department Chair in all placement negotiations.
f. Create and manage all databases related to student placements including tracking appropriate documentation to comply with regulations required by hospitals.
g. Create, track, and manage departmental clinical affiliation and clinical scholar agreements in accordance with state regulations.
h. Create an up-to-date inventory of requested placements, placement status, and potential clinical placement sites.
i. Collaborate with the full-time faculty and Department Chair to develop program clinical policies.
j. Collaborate with clinical agencies to develop and implement a longitudinal placement program for nursing student placements.
k. Conduct student orientations about longitudinal placement opportunities to incoming nursing cohorts.
l. Manage applications, interview schedules, and onboarding paperwork for students pursuing longitudinal placements in collaboration with the clinical agency.
2) Affiliate Faculty Responsibilities (20%)
a. In collaboration with the Department Chair, develop and execute a marketing strategy to increase the number and quality of affiliate faculty applicants.
b. Create and manage a system for tracking and interviewing nursing affiliate faculty applicants.
c. Participate in the department interview process for affiliate faculty.
d. Initiate and monitor affiliate faculty onboarding for the Nursing department including clinical faculty orientation, immunization requirements, and facility orientations.
e. Coordinate all rotation-specific details to clinical faculty including faculty unit orientation, compliance requirements, and student expectations/ orientation requirements.
3) Nursing Department Responsibilities (20%)
a. Ensure the program meets and maintains all required regulatory documentation including computerized patient documentation training, HIPAA, immunizations, and Joint Commission requirements.
b. Initiate and manage clinical schedules and calendars for the department.
c. Collect and track required Human Resource & Department of Nursing documents.
d. Attend departmental and other required meetings including quarterly Alliance for Clinical Education (ACE) regional meetings.
e. Collaborate with nursing office coordinator to ensure that all work is completed related to student and faculty clinical regulatory compliance including document tracking, and maintaining My Clinical Exchange pre and post-licensure Checklists.
f. Complete annual reports for accrediting agencies and regulatory departments.
g. Collaborate with faculty and departmental staff in accreditation compliance activities.
4) Student Orientation/ Issues (10%)
a. Ensure student orientation in all technology systems related to clinical learning such as My Clinical Exchange.
b. Provide leadership as the department resource for all My Clinical Exchange questions/ issues for students throughout the program.
c. Conduct student orientation on clinical placements and required student compliance documentation.
d. Resolve all student clinical placement and compliance issues.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience building professional relationships.

• Excellent organizational, time management and negotiation skills.
• Previous work experience in a higher education or health care environment.
• Experience with faculty recruitment.
• Experience acting as a liaison between two or more institutions, businesses, or organizations.
• Experience with regulatory agencies and policies.
• Experience with calendaring.
• Experience with state regulations in relationship to clinical affiliation and clinical scholar agreements.
• Experience with conflict resolution.
• Excellent written communication skills.
