Assistant Professor, Term, Art Architecture (Fine Arts)

Job Summary:

The Fine Arts Program at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a one-year non-renewable full-time term Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2017. Situated in the Department of Art + Architecture, the Fine Arts Program at USF offers studio classes within the fields of Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics, Digital Photography and Community Outreach.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of classes that may include Art Fundamentals, Drawing I, Drawing for Non-Majors, and courses from an area of expertise, such as Printmaking, Sculpture, and/or Ceramics. The expected teaching load for this position at USF is four 4-unit courses per semester. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in department meetings, but will not be required to advise students or serve on committees.

Minimum Requirements:

MFA Studio art degree, with a preferred area of specialization, such as Drawing/Foundations, Sculpture, Ceramics, or Printmaking, as well as a strong record of teaching at the university level and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required. Qualified candidates also possess expertise in a range of fine arts studio practices; equal comfort and fluency in teaching traditional, technical and conceptual skills; a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarship in a liberal arts setting; readiness to work collaboratively with faculty across the department, including Design, Art History and Arts Management, and Architecture and Community Design; and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong exhibition, research and/or publication record with national exposure and peer evaluation.
