Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Department of Engineering
Otterbein University, a comprehensive liberal arts institution in the suburban Columbus area, invites immediate applications for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in Engineering, with the appointment beginning August 2017. We seek to hire a senior person who will serve in the role of Chair of the Department of Engineering beginning in fall 2017. This position could be tenure track or non-tenure track.
Responsibilities: Primary duties are for curriculum and laboratory development that combines mechanical, industrial and electrical engineering principles, teaching small classes that focus on interdisciplinary problem solving techniques, and supervising student projects. In addition, opportunities exist to develop and work with collaborating industrial partners to secure research funding and internship opportunities. The Chair will have administrative responsibility for the systems engineering, mechanical engineering and environmental health & safety majors including faculty hiring and development, recruitment, departmental budget, scheduling, curriculum development, and efforts to secure ABET accreditation.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field. In addition, candidates should have prior teaching experience, and possess superior organizational and communication skills. Experience in curriculum development is highly desirable. Applicants should show a strong record of academic leadership.
