Job Description

BigThumb IT Consultants is a provider of technology solutions for small to medium size businesses. Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio (a suburb of Columbus Ohio), we have grown into a "boutique" IT company, offering unique services to customers in many industries. And we are growing! We are looking for a Level I or II Help Desk Technician in the Akron, Ohio area to join our team. We are looking for more than desktop support. We are looking for an IT professional with solid desktop, server, and VPN experience.

If you are someone who will aggressively and effectively handle multiple, often simultaneous, customer support cases with an analytical mind and logic-based troubleshooting tactics, we would like to speak with you.

Specifically, we are looking for a technology professional with at least five (5) years of experience supporting a diverse base of small-medium businesses in a fast paced, autonomous help desk environment. BigThumb Technicians are expected to enjoy working well independently but also in small groups and have a happy and helpful disposition even when under pressure. Excellent problem solving skills is a must for this position with the ability to attack a problem from multiple angles. Tools and technologies that the BigThumb Help Desk Technician would be supporting and using (and therefore must be proficient in) include:

Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2013 and Small Business Service 2008-2011


Microsoft DNS, DHCP, Routing & Remote access/VPN, Terminal Services

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007-2013

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and later

Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft Windows 7 and later

Microsoft Office 2007 and later

Consumer and commercial anti-spyware products

Consumer and commercial routers, firewalls, security appliances, switches, etc

Common end-user financial applications such as QuickBooks, PeachTree, Quicken

Commercial backup software

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection, VNC

Voice over IP (VoIP) experience

Internet and networking concepts, both hardware and software

Wireless networking concepts and application

Ability to manage multiple 3rd party vendors

***Bonus experience: Data center management, enterprise hardware installation & configuration.

This is a long-term salaried position with the opportunity for bonuses based on performance, customer satisfaction and overall business growth. Travel will be expected, including overnight travel as needed.
