Excelsior College, is a regionally accredited, virtual, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning, and they are looking for you to fill the Senior Financial Aid Counselor position.



Summary



The Senior Financial Aid Counselor assists the Associate Director of Financial Aid in the day-to-day operations of the Office of Financial Aid. The positions primary focus is support (phones, emails, and work queues) and processing of student aid programs and includes management of Book Vouchers. In addition, the individual must have a strong working knowledge of Federal, State and Institutional Aid.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Associate Director with all aspects of Federal, State and Institutional student aid support.
• Primary on phones to counsel students on all aspects of financial aid.
• Primary on all assigned work queues as well as VAFA email box and message center.
• Process Book Vouchers.
• Support the collection of required documentation and processing of forms related to student aid.
• Show competency in Institutional, State and Federal policies and procedures to assist in compliance with regulations that govern each area of student aid.
• Keep current on regulations pertaining to programs administered by Excelsior College.
• Serve as an information resource for incoming students, transfers, and re-entering students and continue to support them through graduation.
• Assist with developing, revising, and updating processes of the financial aid office related to aid programs administered by the college.
• Support the development of the whole student by providing excellent customer service and resolution of issues through telephone, email, and preparation of written correspondence.
• Participate in ongoing professional development along with the encouragement of the growth of colleagues.
• Stay current with knowledge and use of financial aid software, i.e. PowerFAIDS and Excelsior College's Student Information System (SIS).
• Refer students to appropriate Excelsior College staff to provide desired services as needed.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the needs of the Office of Financial Aid and the students we serve.
