Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

The UIC College of Pharmacy sets a national standard of excellence in pharmaceutical research, education, and clinical practice. Founded in 1859, the College is the oldest academic unit of the University of Illinois System and the only College of Pharmacy within the system. The College is currently ranked 6th in the nation by US News and World Report and ranked 7th in NIH funding. The College is among the top national tier of pharmacy schools for student body diversity, faculty publications, patient care and outreach programs, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

The College offers a four-year professional PharmD degree program as well as master's and PhD degrees that cover a spectrum of areas within the pharmaceutical sciences. The faculty are internationally-recognized leaders in the following research areas: natural products; biotechnology and biodefense; cancer biology and therapeutics; drug discovery, development and delivery; infectious diseases; neuroscience; women's health; patient safety; pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics; genomics and pharmacogenomics. The position of Dean requires dynamic leadership, innovative vision, as well as outstanding communication and administrative skills that will enable him/her to enhance the ability of faculty, staff and students to advance the excellence of programs and activities. To achieve this, the Dean must be able to align essential internal and external constituencies toward common goals and to garner resources through leadership of the clinical enterprise, education, fund-raising and extramural research support. He/she should embrace the UIC Strategic Priorities, namely Student Experience and Success, National and International Impact and Visibility, Chicago and Community Engagement, and Entrepreneurial University. The Dean reports to the UIC Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, who oversees the seven health science colleges and the care delivery system. (

Candidates should have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement for appointment as a tenured full professor; a terminal degree in pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences or a field relevant to pharmacy; a demonstrated commitment to diversity, excellence in teaching and learning, and support of shared faculty governance; and strong collaborative negotiating and administrative leadership skills.
