Location:  Arizona State Prison – Florence Complex         

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Will teach courses in CompTI A+ to prepare students for the National A+ certification exam to include essential knowledge for installing, configuring, upgrading, and repairing operating system software, application software, and programs. Class responsibilities include but are not limited to: curriculum development, attendance, student projects, monitoring student progress, and other specific duties pertaining to the specific Arizona Department of Corrections unit that will be assigned.  Instructor will be teaching a class of 20 to 25 inmate/students at the Arizona Department of Corrections, Florence Complex. This position serves as the full-time faculty for this IT prison program.  In addition, this position will require the full-time faculty to obtain knowledge and application level competency in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Auto CAD as part of continued professional development. Upon completion of professional development, the faculty member will teach GIS and AutoCAD coursework as part of the overall IT program.  Position is dependent upon Arizona Department of Corrections funding.  Position is full time - 12 months per year and benefits are provided through the College.

QUALIFICATIONS:   The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Minimum Qualifications:  Recognized certification in the discipline and five years of directly related occupational experience in Computer Technology
  • Desirable Qualifications:  Associate’s Degree and experience in leadership, supervising, training, and/or curriculum development. Knowledge and working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Auto CAD.
  • Special Position Condition: Applicant must be able to pass and maintain Arizona Department of Corrections security clearance. 

SALARY:   Minimum entry salary is $53,056.00 annual.

Copies of transcripts (if applicable) should reflect completed course work and conferred degrees. All academic course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited course work by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
