Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology
The Department of Biological Sciences at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking a three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Comparative Animal Physiology to begin in August 2017. This position has the possibility of conversion to tenure track after three years depending on performance and budget constraints. The appointee will be primarily responsible for teaching human anatomy and physiology, upper level lecture and laboratory courses in comparative animal physiology and zoology, and introductory courses for majors and non-majors. The Department of Biological Sciences values excellence in teaching, student-faculty mentoring, and professional development to prepare our undergraduates for success in diverse careers and graduate and professional school education. The facilities for the Department of Biological Sciences have been recently renovated and offer state-of-the-art laboratories, tissue culture suite, microscopy suite, vivarium and aquatics laboratory housing, and an automated greenhouse.
The ideal candidate will be able to conduct vertebrate physiology research and mentor undergraduate students as they progress in our guided, independent research series. As a student-centered institution, York College focuses on teaching, advising, and student-based research mentoring of student research. Professional development and college/community service is also expected. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in Biology or related discipline that will augment existing departmental expertise.
