Laboratory Assistant I

Seeking highly motivated, innovative and creative candidates with strong previous training in broad areas of insect molecular biology and genetics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to write clearly and succinctly for high profile publications is essential. The successful candidate must also be able to organize and prioritize their own work with minimal supervision and independently drive forward their research projects.
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment. Knowledge of and experience with the use of standard laboratory equipment.
- Under close supervision, ability to follow written and oral directions and ability to work independently but also work well with others when needed. Must be reliable, dependable and conscientious.
- Able to communicate effectively to provide supervisors updates on progress and assist with problems and potential solutions.
