Job Description: Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP), Management Information Systems Department
The Management Information Systems Department at the College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University is seeking qualified applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) position beginning August 11, 2017, or if not filled, January 1, 2018. This is a non-tenure, continuing appointment.
Duties will include teaching undergraduate MIS courses in subjects such as programming languages, data structures, computer literacy, systems programming, networking and network security, systems analysis and design and database technologies. Duties may include teaching graduate level courses in MIS or Business Data Analytics including Data Collection, Decision Sciences and Analytics, Business Simulation Modeling and Data Visualization. Duties will also include student retention, recruitment and placement activities.

The position requires that a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or a related field of study at the time of appointment. Knowledge of the subject matter, evidence of teaching excellence with proven teaching experience is also required. Experience in either the information systems practitioner area or practical research applications will also be highly valued.
The applicant must be fluent in writing and speaking English. The applicant must also have knowledge of data analytics, decision modeling, lab based online teaching tools, DFD diagrams, ER diagrams, TCP/IP model, Wireshark, PHP, C, C++, C#, Java, Linux, Windows, computer literacy, computer security, software engineering and iPhone app programming is desired. Associated certifications may include CompTIA, CEH, CISSP, CCNA, CIW, MCITP, MCSE, PMP, ITIL and COBIT.
