Job description

Duties: This position will be responsible for the performance of moderately complex experiments related to biological and molecular analysis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). Generation of novel SHIVs (simian-human immunodeficiency viruses) by recombinant DANA technology will be required. Molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA purification, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, DNA sequencing and plasmid cloning will be used on a daily basis as will blood cell isolation and cell culture. In vitro cultivation of infectious blood borne pathogens including HIV-1, SIV and SHIVs and testing for sensitivity to antibody neutralization will be required.

Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
