The Office of the Registrar reorganization has created a position for a Student Systems Specialist. This position reports to the Associate Registrar for Student Systems.

The primary responsibility of the Specialist is oversight of specific areas of student records including Deans' Actions, adviser assignments, enrollments, and grades. This is a significant technological role. It requires an understanding of People Soft student records and scrupulous attention to detail.

The second role is operational support of the Student Records System; this involves working with OIT in the maintenance and enhancement of the system. The Specialist will write functional specifications, file OPM tickets, troubleshoot data problems, update documentation, collaborate with staff across various university offices, and will write reports to diagnose and resolve data problems using current reporting tools such as PS Query and Cognos.

The Student Systems Specialist will participate in annual system enhancement projects and delivered upgrades. Tasks include developing test plans, system testing, and deployment. The Specialist will work with the OIT technical team and Registrar Office colleagues, as well as assist the Associate Registrar in coordinating testing efforts, and ensuring complete and accurate testing of PeopleSoft functionality.

The Specialist will also participate in the general work of the department such as Commencement, Freshman Advising and Course Selection, TigerHub management, and online matriculation.

This position requires familiarity with relational databases and, specifically, with PeopleSoft Student Records. Experience with system implementation and with writing test scripts and functional specifications is required. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in database systems and analysis; PeopleSoft preferred
  • Ability to participate in multi-layered project planning and implementation
  • Demonstrated attention to technical detail
