Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism seeks Postdoctoral Research Associates to immediately work in the Siragy Laboratory where they are investigating the role of the renal (Pro)renal receptor in hypertension and diabetic nephropathy. Our laboratory is part of a rich scientific environment with strong expertise in studies of hypertension and renal diseases. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to join a dynamic laboratory and be involved in multidisciplinary renal research. This individual will be expected to conduct independent research, contribute to the writing of scientific papers and attend major national and international conferences.

PhD and/or MD degree required. Candidates should have a strong background in renal physiology, preferably in areas related to the renin-angiotensin aldosterone system, diabetic nephropathy and inflammatory signaling pathways. Candidates will be responsible for data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, presenting their research at national/international meetings, and train and supervise others. Candidates will conduct in vivo and in vitro studies and experience with the following techniques are required: rodent surgery, real time PCR, optical imaging techniques, immunohistochemistry, western blot protein expression and analysis, in vitro gene expression and analysis, cell culture, siRNA, shRNA, ELISA, Chip, EMSA, PCR, RT-PCR, and statistical analysis.

These positions are restricted and contingent upon funding. Funding for these positions are available for 3 years.
